The Melbourne Meteors topped the Tokyo Fitzies, 7-4, with second baseman Manny Rodríguez playing a big role. Rodríguez was 2-5 with a home run, while scoring 2 and driving in 4 for the Meteors in the win. The 63-43 Meteors lead the Intercontinental Baseball League Asian Division by one game.

The game was decided with one out in the bottom of the ninth. With Melbourne trailing 4-3, Rodríguez jumped on a cutter from 39-year old right-handed pitcher Alastair Bacon and hit a grand slam home run to right. With one swing, the Meteors had a walk-off win.

"The fans went nuts at the end," Rodríguez said.
