Blue Gills Earn 4-1 Road Win Over Los Angeles
|
Richard Phillips never let the Stars get in a groove. The right-hander used his bread and butter, his fastball, to pitch the Blue Gills to a win, 4-1. The winning pitcher was Phillips, now 4-9. He tossed 8 innings of 5-hit ball, while walking 2 and fanning 3. Malo Thiery earned the save for Detroit, his 6th of the year.
Detroit relied on the hitting of Mike Price to pick up the win. The center fielder ripped a run-scoring single in the top of the fourth inning to put the Blue Gills on top, 3-1. For the game, Price had 1 triple and 1 single in 5 at-bats.
"Nice, tidy little win," Price said after the game.
Los Angeles now owns a losing streak of 5 games.
