The Detroit Blue Gills picked up a win at Tokyo Ballpark, knocking off the Chicago Beefs, 3-2. Starting pitcher Leo Morris was a big reason why. The winner was Morris. He threw 7.1 innings allowing 2 runs. The loser was Ethan Vergette. Osman Sumbatashvili earned the save for Detroit, his 23rd of the year.

In the bottom of the third, Jesús Aguilera delivered a clutch hit. With two gone and runners on 2nd and 3rd, the Detroit right fielder hit a 2-run single, putting the Blue Gills in front, 3-2.

"Every time I step on the mound, I want to go out there and compete and bring my best game," said Morris.

After today's action, Detroit sits at 39-69; Chicago slips to 48-60.
