Toucans Bag 2-0 Win
|
The Sao Paulo Toucans claimed a close win over the Rio de Janeiro Jaguars, due in large part to Miguel Salazar. The Sao Paulo left-hander pitched a great game to secure the 2-0 win. Salazar, now 10-8, was the winner. In 7.1 innings, he gave up 6 hits, while striking out 3, walking 3, and allowing no runs. With the victory, the Toucans record stands at 47-61.
Who knows how it might've ended, had it not been for Sami Muroki? The Sao Paulo first baseman had a run-scoring double in the top of the third inning to put the Toucans on top, 2-0. For the game, Muroki had 1 double and 1 single in 4 at-bats.
"I liked his command," said Sao Paulo manager Casey Blake DeWitt. "Miguel was throwing strikes."
