Meteors Top Emperors, 6-1
|
Beijing got a big-time effort from pitcher Yoshifusa Hasegawa, but it wasn't enough to keep the Melbourne Meteors from winning the game, 6-1. Hasegawa threw 7.1 innings allowing 1 run for the losing team. Melbourne now has a record of 54-54 with the win.
Melbourne used the timely hitting of Sharafat Mir to seize the win. The catcher stroked a run-scoring single in the top of the 11th inning to put the Meteors on top, 2-1. It was his only hit in 2 at-bats, but it was a game-changer.
"Good baseball players make you a smarter manager," said Melbourne manager Bob Meteors.
