Toucans Rally Late to Nip Dolphins
|
The rain did not keep Sao Paulo and Havana from finishing their game.
Starting pitcher Mariano Segura gave the Sao Paulo Toucans a rock-solid effort. The Toa Baja, Puerto Rico native helped his team defeat the Havana Dolphins, 2-1, at El Estadio Latinoamericano. Chong-yee Ming closed it out for Sao Paulo, earning his 26th save.
Abraha Saqr came through with a big-time hit for Sao Paulo. The right fielder smacked a 2-run home run in the top of the eighth inning to give his team the lead, 2-1. It was his only hit, but it was clutch.
"Mariano was dictating to their hitters," said Sao Paulo manager Casey Blake DeWitt.
Sao Paulo is now 49-61.
