Melbourne Meteors starter Ramón Chávez pitched a strong game against the Daegu Monks at Meteor Crater, leading the Meteors to victory, 5-3. Max Schmalzl closed the door for Melbourne, picking up his 9th save of the year. The 4th-place Meteors improved to 51-59.

Bill Martin had a big 2-run double for the Meteors in the bottom of the second inning. With Melbourne leading 1-0 and runners on 2nd and 3rd, he got a sinker from 35-year old right-handed pitcher Cipriano Sánchez and swatted a double to center. It was his 2nd double of the season, and more importantly, it put the Meteors ahead, 3-0.

Martin said his team "played with determination."
