Fitzies Beaten, 5-3, by Pharaohs
|
The Cairo Pharaohs topped the Tokyo Fitzies, 5-3, in Intercontinental Baseball League action at Fitzies Stadium. The standout performance belonged to Cairo pitcher and Apra Harbor, Guam, native David Numbers. The winning pitcher was Numbers, now 3-5. He tossed 7 innings of 4-hit ball, while walking 2 and fanning 3. Héctor Leal earned the save for Cairo, his 9th of the year.
Who knows how it might've ended, had it not been for David Grillo? The Cairo right fielder had a run-scoring double in the top of the sixth inning to put the Pharaohs on top, 2-0. For the game, Grillo had 1 double and 1 single in 4 at-bats.
Said losing manager : "We just didn't get it done tonight."
The defeat makes Tokyo 50-68.
