Pitching was the name of the game in a tight contest between the Detroit Blue Gills and the Chicago Beefs. Detroit won it, 2-1. Detroit starter Yoshinori Matsushita was in command. Detroit reliever Ragnar Arnfeldt picked up the win to move to 6-4. Vavrinec Simonovic suffered the loss. The slumping Beefs have lost 6 straight.

Detroit got a knockout punch from Jesús Aguilera. The pinch hitter hammered a solo home run in the bottom of the ninth inning to win the game. It might've been his only hit, but it decided the outcome.
