Victory Pushes Falcons Record to 65-56
|
The Karachi Falcons, behind a great outing from Aleksander Eckhard, who is tied for 4th in the IBL in wins with 12, defeated the Beijing Emperors, 2-1, at Muhammad Ali Jinnah Stadium. Eckhard picked up the win for Karachi, going 7 innings. He gave up 1 run on 5 hits. He now sports a record of 12-7. Picking up the save was 32-year old right-handed pitcher Abracham Layar.
The Falcons got a big at-bat from left fielder Kieran Morrison. For the game, Morrison went 1-3 with a home run, while adding 2 RBI and scoring once. In the bottom of the sixth, with a runner on 2nd, he stroked a 2-run home run. His 9th home run of the season gave Karachi a 2-0 lead.
"Tough loss," said Beijing manager Kev In. "This one will sting for a while."
Karachi, now 65-56, holds down third place in the Intercontinental Baseball League Asian Division.
