Monks Win with Late Rally
|
The Monks earned a hard-fought, 3-2 win in 11 innings at Monks Stadium. To do so required withstanding a fine effort from Melbourne pitcher Kien Tseng. Tseng went 6.1 innings and allowed 1 run. Daegu reliever Luis Ruíz was the winner. His record is now 6-7. The losing pitcher was Lynn Moore. The first-place Monks hiked their record to 71-51.
The Monks got a clutch hit from left fielder Galimberto Ottini. In the bottom of the 11th, he hit a run-scoring single to right, to win the game for the Monks.
"I'm glad I could get it done when the game was in the balance," Ottini said in his postgame press conference.
