Late Rally Earns Cairo 6-4 Win
|
The Cairo Pharaohs beat the Black Forest Foxes, 6-4, at The Den. Rickey Baker, in particular, was impressive. He went 2 for 3 with 2 singles and 2 walks. He scored 2 times. The winner was Norbert Armelini, who threw 82 pitches over 7 innings. The right-hander was charged with 4 runs on 5 hits. Pang Chang finished the game for Cairo and earned his 8th save.
Cairo used the timely hitting of Abdul-Tawwab Talib to seize the win. The second baseman stroked a run-scoring single in the top of the eighth inning to put the Pharaohs on top, 5-4. It was his only hit in 4 at-bats, but it was a game-changer.
Said losing manager DP Woodford: "'I liked the effort, just not the results."
Cairo sits in 4th place in the Intercontinental Baseball League Afro-European Division at 53-70.
