Blue Gills Handed 4-1 Loss
|
The exploits of pinch hitter Sixto Román helped the Los Angeles Stars defeat the Detroit Blue Gills, 4-1. Román was 1-1 with a home run. He drove in 2 runs and scored once. The first-place Stars have won 4 in a row.
In the bottom of the sixth, Los Angeles left fielder Yunes Chekhemani gave his team the lead. With two out and runners on 1st and 2nd, Gypsy hit his 9th double of the year. Detroit pitcher Ethan Atkins surrendered it. With that, the Stars jumped in front, 2-1.
"Makes our job easier," said Román, "when our pitchers shut the opposition down."
