Goto Pounds 2 Homers in 6-3 Jaguars Win
|
The Rio de Janeiro Jaguars defeated the Puerto Rico Coqui, 6-3, at Ballpark of San Juan. Rio de Janeiro was led by 26-year old center fielder Naruhiko Goto, who was 2-4 with 2 home runs. He drove in 5 runs and scored twice. Britt Leonard finished to wrap up his 34th save. After today's action, Rio de Janeiro sits at 73-52; Puerto Rico slips to 47-78.
Who knows how it would've ended, had it not been for Jon Wooddisse? The former first round draft pick Wooddisse stroked a run-scoring double in the top of the eighth inning to put Rio de Janeiro up, 3-2. For the game, he was 3 for 4, including 1 double and 2 singles.
"Our offense was purring," said Rio de Janeiro manager Echo 127. "Like a well-oiled machine."
