Generals Beat Emperors, 6-1
|
Due in large part to shortstop Ken Schubert, the Rome Generals sunk the Beijing Emperors, 6-1. Schubert was 3-4 with 3 singles, while adding 2 RBI and scoring once. With the win over Beijing, the Generals improved to 64-62.
The Generals got a big at-bat from center fielder Angelino Baroncelli. For the game, Baroncelli went 2 for 4 with 2 doubles, while scoring 2 runs. In the bottom of the fourth, with runners on 1st and 3rd, he stroked a run-scoring double. His 10th double of the season gave Rome a 2-1 lead.
"Just trying to keep things simple and helping the team win any way I can," Schubert told a local reporter after the game.
