Detroit Blue Gills starter Jhong-shun Liu pitched effectively against the Los Angeles Stars at Tokyo Ballpark. The right-hander spearheaded his team's 6-4 win. Liu, now 9-7, was the winner. In 5 innings, he gave up 4 hits, while striking out 3, walking 1, and allowing 3 runs. Earning his 24th save of the year was Ragnar Arnfeldt.

Joy-shan Pian, who finished 5th in the ABL in stolen bases with 37 last year, helped out the Detroit cause in the bottom of the fifth inning with a run-scoring single. For the game, the left fielder was 1-3 with a walk. He scored 2 runs.

"You can't get too high when things go well, or too low when things go bad. Right now, I'm just happy we got the win," Liu told the Detroit News.

Detroit is 4th in the Americas Baseball League North American Division with a record of 50-77.
