The Chicago Beefs defeated the Detroit Blue Gills, 5-3, in Americas Baseball League action at Beefs Stadium. Chicago pitcher Patrick Widhoezl had a standout performance. Chicago reliever Luis Gutiérrez picked up the win, raising his record to 3-5. Yoshinori Matsushita was tagged with the loss. The third-place Beefs bumped their record to 58-70.

Chaguanas, Trinidad & Tobago-born Max Scroggs came through in the clutch. In the bottom of the eighth, with the bases loaded and the Beefs trailing 3-2, he hit a 2-run single to center to put Chicago on top.

Scroggs told a Chicago Herald reporter that he was "delighted" with the win.
