Beefs Get Hard-Earned Win
|
In a low-scoring contest, Chicago pitcher Rino Kathirithamby was marvelous, enabling his team to nab a 2-1 win. The win went to Ptolemy Venizelos in relief, making him now 5-0. Tien Dung Long took the loss for El Paso. The second-place Beefs have won 5 straight.
Had Pedro Jiménez not delivered a key base hit in the bottom of the eighth, the outcome might have been different. Instead, with two down and runners on 1st and 2nd, Jiménez hit a run-scoring single. That made the score 2-1, in favor of the Beefs.
"The bar for us is not a particular opponent, it's ourselves," said Chicago manager Mikes L. Son.
