Meteors Take Tight Tangle
|
The Melbourne Meteors beat the Beijing Emperors, 6-5, in 10 innings. Melbourne shortstop Hudhayfah bin Salah al Din, in particular, had a fine performance. He went 3 for 5 with 2 home runs, while adding 4 RBI and scoring twice. Wendel Lippelt, who signed a 2-year contract worth $7,050,000 on 01/23/2149, was the winner in relief. His record is now 5-7. The losing pitcher was Shang-de Kan. With the win, Melbourne upped its record to 65-64.
The game was still up for grabs in the bottom of the tenth. With one out, bin Salah al Din hit a fastball from Shang-de Kan for a solo home run. The Meteors, in dramatic fashion, had a walk-off win.
"Anytime you're seeing it well, it's a good feeling," bin Salah al Din told the Melbourne Herald.
