Øivind Ulland pitched a gem to lead Sao Paulo to victory over the Puerto Rico Coqui, 3-1. Picking up the save was Xing-hua Hua, his 24th. With the win, Sao Paulo has a record of 71-59. Puerto Rico falls to 49-81.
Sao Paulo used a well-timed hit by Hansakaya Sampath to capture the win. The third baseman socked a 2-run double in the top of the first inning to put the Toucans ahead, 2-0. Though it was his only hit in 3 at-bats, it was important.
"When I throw strikes I'm good, if I don't I'm not very good," said Ulland. "So I just have to throw strikes."
