Jhong-shun Liu, who is tied for 8th in the ABL with a 7.0 K/9 rate, propelled his team to victory over the Mexico City Aztecs. The final score was 4-3, Detroit. Osman Sumbatashvili got the save, his 30th in 37 chances. The Blue Gills now have a record of 50-82.

The game was at a stalemate until second baseman Jesús Cobrarobivo came to bat in the bottom of the eighth. Facing Mexico City pitcher Jesús Flores, he hit a 2-2 curveball for a run-scoring single. It was a game-changer, putting Detroit on top, 2-1.

"Jhong-shun gave us a huge shot in the arm," said Detroit manager El Weston.
