The El Paso Thunderbirds defeated the Gitche Gumee Fitzies, 7-4, at Gitche Gumee Stadium today. Leading the charge for El Paso was left fielder Carlos Saldaña. He was 2-3 with 2 singles and a walk. He drove in 3 runs and scored once. El Paso is now 91-41, 25½ games up in the Americas Baseball League North American Division.

With El Paso leading 2-0 in the top of the third, Saldaña hit a 2-run single off Gitche Gumee hurler Vavrinec Simonovic. It was the 79th hit of the season for Saldaña and put his team ahead, 4-0.

"We'll relax tonight and get back after it tomorrow," Saldaña said after the game.
