With 3-1 Win, Jaguars Go to 78-54
|
The Rio de Janeiro Jaguars, despite a fine performance by Puerto Rico pitcher Damien Duval, grabbed a 3-1 win at Rio de Janeiro Grounds. Duval allowed 3 runs over 7.1 innings. Félix Soto picked up the save for Rio de Janeiro, his 31st of the year. The second-place Jaguars improved to 78-54.
The Jaguars got a big at-bat from second baseman Jon Wooddisse. For the game, Wooddisse was 1-4 with a home run. He drove in 3 runs and scored once. In the bottom of the sixth, with runners on 1st and 2nd, he stroked a 3-run home run. His 11th home run of the season gave Rio de Janeiro a 3-1 lead.
"Every loss stings," said Puerto Rico manager Kir By. "This one is no exception."
