The Detroit Blue Gills, despite a fine performance by Santo Domingo pitcher Gilg Koch, grabbed a 3-2 win in 10 innings at Tokyo Ballpark. Koch allowed no runs over 7.1 innings. Reliever Osman Sumbatashvili picked up the win. His record improves to 3-6. Félix Soto, who led the ABL in saves with 41 in 2142, took the loss. At 51-82, Detroit is in last place in the Americas Baseball League North American Division.

Detroit fans at Tokyo Ballpark were rewarded for their support of the Blue Gills with a nice win.

"Everybody in here is a professional. You have to do what you have to do," said Helmrich.
