The Detroit Blue Gills pinned a convincing loss on the Sao Paulo Toucans, 10-1, at Toucans Ballpark. Melchior Isecke was a main factor in the win. He went 3-4 with a home run, 2 singles, and a walk. He drove in 5 runs and scored once for Detroit. Richard Phillips, the winner, improved to 7-12. He held the Toucans to 1 run on 5 hits over 7 innings, while striking out 9 and walking 3. With the win, the Blue Gills have a record of 54-87.
Isecke had a key at-bat in the top of the first to put Detroit in front, 2-0. With runners on 1st and 2nd, he hit a run-scoring single off Sao Paulo pitcher Øivind Ulland.
"Good hitting and good pitching is a lethal combination," said Isecke.
