Win Makes Oslo 81-60
|
The Oslo Voyageurs nipped the Beijing Emperors, 5-4, at The Bird's Nest. Oslo pitcher Carlos Rúbio, in particular, starred. Dag Rusten got credit for the save for Oslo. It was his 28th of the year. The Voyageurs bumped their record to 81-60 with this latest triumph.
Cal Givens had a big 3-run home run for the Voyageurs in the top of the sixth inning. With Oslo leading 2-0 and runners on 1st and 2nd, he sized up a cutter from 37-year old right-handed pitcher Kyle Miller and punished it. The result was his 6th home run of the season, which put the Voyageurs on top, 5-0.
"Carlos gets tougher when he has to, makes a big pitch when he has to," said Oslo skipper Marq Ualler.
