The Rome Generals defeated the Melbourne Meteors, 9-8, at Meteor Crater. Amin Mahir, who is tied for 8th in the IBL in stolen bases with 40, was a standout performer for Rome. His 3 hits included 2 singles and 1 double -- this in addition to the 3 runs he scored and 1 he knocked in. Harvey Yeandle collected save number 36. The second-place Generals now have a record of 75-66.

Rome took the lead, 9-6, on Manuel Colón's 6th home run of the season. The 2-run home run came off Melbourne pitcher Max Schmalzl in the top of the ninth.

"We came out with clear minds and swung the bats well," said Rome manager Tx Horns.
