Nairobi Tags Rome with 2-0 Defeat

Starting Pitcher Amrus Mtembei was lights out, as the Nairobi Black Rhinos beat the Rome Generals, 2-0. Mtembei yielded no runs over 8 innings to notch the win. He scattered 6 hits, walked 0, and struck out 1. His record improves to 12-15. Nairobi currently is in third place in the Intercontinental Baseball League Afro-European Division at 68-74.
Boboy Gines, who is tied for 4th in the IBL in triples with 13, had a direct impact on the outcome. Gines contributed a run-scoring single in the top of the third inning to put Nairobi up, 1-0.
Gines said, "Whether you hit the ball hard, you walk, you have a long at-bat, 10 or 12 pitches, or you hit a homer, you're just trying to do anything you can do to help the team win."
