Sao Paulo Defeated By Dolphins, 9-2
|
The Havana Dolphins picked up a win at El Estadio Latinoamericano, knocking off the Sao Paulo Toucans, 9-2. Starting pitcher Keitaro Ito played a key role in the triumph. Ito, now 8-8, was the winner. In 7.1 innings, he gave up 4 hits, while striking out 4, walking 2, and allowing 2 runs. The 4th-place Dolphins are now 70-73, the Toucans 80-63.
Jesús Torres took Sao Paulo hurler Miguel Salazar deep in the bottom of the fourth. His 3-run home run put the Dolphins on top, 4-1. In all, Torres had 1 single in addition to the home run, while going 2 for 4.
"Keitaro was exceptional and he pitched with a purpose," said Havana manager Dan Farnell.
