Pharaohs Drop Fleur-de-Lis, 3-2
|
In a tight contest between the Cairo Pharaohs and the Paris Fleur-de-Lis, Gustave Le Floch was the determining factor. The Cairo right-hander sparkled in his team's 3-2 win. Le Floch, now 12-11, was the winner. In 6 innings, he gave up 6 hits, while striking out 3, walking 2, and allowing 2 runs. Paul Henry finished the game for Cairo and earned his 2nd save.
Cairo used a well-timed hit by Kaleb Ame to capture the win. The shortstop socked a run-scoring double in the top of the sixth inning to put the Pharaohs ahead, 3-2. Though it was his only hit in 3 at-bats, it was important.
Afterward, Pharaohs manager J Stell was ebullient. "That was a fun game to coach," he told a group of reporters, adding, "I hope it was just as fun to watch."
The Pharaohs saw their win-loss record go to 61-83. At the same time, the Fleur-de-Lis fell to 63-81.
