Generals Knock Off Black Rhinos, 6-4
|
The home crowd had a good time watching the Nairobi Black Rhinos and Rome Generals get after it.
The Rome Generals racked up a win at The Colosseum, bumping off the Nairobi Black Rhinos, 6-4. Chua-kah Guao, who started for Rome, pitched effectively for his team. Guao yielded 2 runs over 7 innings to notch the win. He scattered 6 hits, walked 3, and struck out 3. His record improves to 7-8.
Angelino Baroncelli had a big 3-run home run for the Generals in the bottom of the fifth inning. With Rome leading 3-0 and runners on 1st and 2nd, he sized up a curveball from David Numbers, who is tied for 6th in the IBL in wins with 14, and punished it. The result was his 5th home run of the season, which put the Generals on top, 6-0.
"I was just trying to execute one pitch at a time," said Guao.
The win makes Rome 77-67.
