Drooping Foxes Lose 6th Straight
|
The Tokyo Fitzies topped the Black Forest Foxes, 6-5, the lion's share of the credit going to first baseman Erik Andersen. On the day, Andersen went 4 for 5 with a home run, a double, and 2 singles for the Fitzies. Tokyo reliever Matous Spurck picked up the win, raising his record to 1-0. Scott Merritt was tagged with the loss. The Fitzies sit in last place in the Intercontinental Baseball League Asian Division with a record of 54-90.
The clutch at-bat came in the bottom of the ninth inning, when Tokyo pinch hitter Munsif Abdul-Muta'al, facing Scott Merritt, had a run-scoring sacrifice fly. It gave the Fitzies the 6-5 win.
"It's what good teams do, find a way to win," said Andersen.
