Monks Lose to Fitzies, 5-2
|
The Tokyo Fitzies reigned over the Daegu Monks in damp conditions.
The Tokyo Fitzies defeated the Daegu Monks, 5-2, in Intercontinental Baseball League action at Fitzies Stadium. Tokyo pitcher Jamal Kirinyaga had a standout performance. In 8 innings, Kirinyaga surrendered 7 hits, while striking out 6 and walking 2. He allowed 2 runs. Alastair Bacon collected save number 32.
In the bottom of the sixth, Julian Weke delivered a clutch hit. With two gone and runners on 1st and 3rd, the Tokyo third baseman hit a run-scoring single, putting the Fitzies in front, 5-2.
"Jamal made his pitches," said Tokyo manager .
The win puts the Fitzies at 66-78, while the Monks drop to 74-70.
