Pitching was the name of the game in a tight contest between the Nairobi Black Rhinos and the Tokyo Shogun. Nairobi won it, 3-1. Nairobi starter Quinton Ayala was in command. Ayala got the win, improving to 8-10. He allowed 5 hits and walked 1 over 7 innings. Ayala allowed 1 run. The win puts Nairobi at 75-70 this season.
The Black Rhinos got a big at-bat from center fielder José Villa. For the game, Villa was 1-4 with a home run. He drove in 2 runs and scored once. In the bottom of the first, with a runner on 1st, he stroked a 2-run home run. His 33rd home run of the season gave Nairobi a 2-1 lead.
"At the end of the day, it's always about your starting pitcher," said Nairobi skipper J Stell.
