Dolphins Earn Late Win
|
In a close game at El Estadio Latinoamericano, the Havana Dolphins edged the Sao Paulo Toucans, 4-3. Havana second baseman Feliciano Bartoccini stood apart with his performance. He was 2 for 4 with a home run, while adding 3 RBI and scoring once. The winner was Carlos García in relief. His record improves to 2-1. Roger Oldford took the loss. Cornélio Tender, who finished 2nd in the IBL in saves with 38 in 2136, nailed down the save.
Bartoccini had a timely hit for Havana in the bottom of the eighth. With Havana trailing 3-1, he turned a first pitch fastball into a 3-run home run. It was his 4th home run of the season, making it 4-3, Havana.
Sao Paulo manager Casey Blake DeWitt, after yet another defeat, said: "Just different when you have that swimming feeling in your cranium. It's difficult to focus."
The slumping Toucans have lost 8 straight.
