3-0 Win Gets El Paso to 95-55
|
El Paso pitcher Jin-u Kim did his part in helping his team beat the Los Angeles Stars, 3-0. The right-hander kept opposing batters from doing too much damage. The first-place Thunderbirds, at 95-55, lead the Americas Baseball League North American Division by 8½ games.
Finlay Hewitt had a big 2-run double for the Thunderbirds in the bottom of the sixth inning. With El Paso leading 1-0 and the bases loaded, he got a cutter from 31-year old left-handed pitcher Franz Bietak and swatted a double to right-center. It was his 4th double of the season, and more importantly, it put the Thunderbirds ahead, 3-0.
"We've got a great group of guys," Hewitt said, "and we're having fun right now."
