The Los Angeles Stars withstood an impressive performance by Detroit right fielder Jesús Aguilera to defeat the Blue Gills, 8-7, at Field of the Stars. Aguilera went 3-5 with a home run, 2 singles, and a walk, while scoring 2 and driving in 3. The win puts the Stars at 65-86, while the Blue Gills drop to 56-95.

Los Angeles got a knockout punch from Brenden Mathaathi. The catcher hammered a 3-run home run in the bottom of the ninth inning to win the game. It might've been his only hit, but it decided the outcome.

"Not to put too fine a point on it," said Mathaathi, "but we really needed that win."
