Black Forest Rallies to 2-1 Win
|
Black Forest overcame a superior effort from Kyle Miller to beat Melbourne, 2-1. The Melbourne pitcher threw 8.1 innings of 2-hit ball. Justin Henderson finished the game for Black Forest and earned his 1st save. The Foxes now own a record of 61-91.
Black Forest used the timely hitting of Abraão Ladeiro to seize the win. The pinch hitter stroked a run-scoring single in the top of the 13th inning to put the Foxes on top, 2-1. It was his only hit in 1 at-bat, but it was a game-changer.
During his postgame press conference, Foxes manager DP Woodford told reporters that he expected a tight game from the get-go. "This had the potential to go down to the wire, and it certainly didn't disappoint," he said, later quipping, "it might've been a little less nerve-racking if I had been watching the game from my couch!"
