Chicago and El Paso duked it out and the Beefs came out victorious.

The Chicago Beefs besoiled an otherwise fine performance by El Paso center fielder Thao Trung by beating the Thunderbirds, 7-4, at Beefs Stadium. Trung was 4 for 5 with a triple and 3 singles, while adding 2 RBI and scoring once. Alois Camber, who finished 2nd in the ABL in wins with 16 last year, was the winning pitcher. Over 7 innings, he allowed 1 run on 9 hits, with 3 walks and no strikeouts.

Philippe Bonhomme had a big bases-clearing double for the Beefs in the bottom of the third inning. With Chicago leading 1-0 and the bases loaded, he got a forkball from Jin-u Kim, who finished 3rd in the ABL in wins with 16 in 2142, and swatted a double to left. It was his 1st double of the season, and more importantly, it put the Beefs ahead, 4-0.

"Nice to tuck this win away," said Bonhomme.

The Beefs, now 5-0, have hit the ground running this season.
