Tokyo Defeats Melbourne, 8-1
|
Tokyo took on Melbourne in front of a lively crowd.
Melbourne had no answer for 24-year old right-handed pitcher Luis Rey. The Tokyo Fitzies starter stymied Meteors hitters, helping the Fitzies cruise to victory, 8-1. The winner was Rey. He threw 7.0 innings of 3-hit ball. The loser was Kent Martin.
Charlie Reynolds had a big grand slam home run for the Fitzies in the top of the sixth inning. With Tokyo leading 4-1 and the bases loaded, he sized up a cutter from 37-year old right-handed pitcher Alastair Bacon and punished it. The result was his 4th home run of the season, which put the Fitzies on top, 8-1.
"Luis showed what he's made of," said Tokyo manager Pedro Cerrano.
The Fitzies go to 16-27 with the win.
