Palmchats Stay Hot, Beat Toucans, 2-1
|
Soggy conditions did not keep Santo Domingo and Sao Paulo from playing their scheduled game.
The Santo Domingo Palmchats eked out a 2-1 win versus the Sao Paulo Toucans at Estadio Santo Domingo. Nobody did more than right fielder Carl Carter. He was terrific. Santo Domingo reliever Madhavrao Satyen picked up the win, upping his record to 1-0. Ismael Mata took the loss. Kyung-nam Pak picked up the save for Santo Domingo, his 9th of the year.
Carter had a game-changing home run in the bottom of the seventh. On a first pitch cutter from Ismael Mata, he banged a solo home run to right-center, giving the Palmchats a 2-1 lead. It was the 12th home run of the year for Carter.
"Good ballgame," said Sao Paulo manager Casey Blake DeWitt. "But we came up on the short end."
The first-place Palmchats have won 6 consecutive games.
