Emperors Tagged with 8-6 Loss
|
Beijing got a terrific game from shortstop Jaromir Cermaka. It wasn't enough, though, to prevent the team from falling to Rome, 8-6. Cermaka went 2-4 with a home run. He scored 2 runs and drove in 3. Octávio Díaz picked up the win with 7.1 innings of work. He allowed 4 runs on 5 hits, while walking 2 and striking out 6. On the season, he is now 5-4. Talal Yunus was credited with the save for Rome, his 5th of the season.
Pancho Castillo had a big 3-run home run for the Generals in the bottom of the second inning. With Rome leading 2-0 and runners on 1st and 2nd, he got a changeup from Guo-fang Ming, who finished 3rd in the IBL in saves with 35 last year, and swatted a home run to left. It was his 9th home run of the season, and more importantly, it put the Generals ahead, 5-0.
"We were able to get some things going offensively," said Castillo.
The second-place Generals have won 4 straight games.
