Emperors Victors, 10-7, at Tokyo
|
The Beijing Emperors weathered an outstanding game by Tokyo second baseman Roderyk Komorowski to topple the Fitzies, 10-7. Komorowski went 2-4 with 2 home runs and a walk. He scored 3 runs and drove in 2. Beijing reliever Wei-fang Cheng was the winner. His record is now 1-0. The losing pitcher was Mayne Rippon. Tom Davis, who finished 2nd in the IBL in saves with 38 in 2144, nailed down the save.
Tutu Karim drew 2 walks in 5 trips to the plate for Beijing. The fan favorite had a key at-bat in the top of the fourth. With no one out and the bases loaded, he broke a 5-5 tie with a run-scoring walk off Lewis Wedderburn. It was his 4th walk of the season.
"We knocked the fire out of the ball," said Beijing manager Kev In. "The guys swung the bats pretty good, and that's fun to see."
Beijing has a record of 5-0.
