The Detroit Blue Gills could not turn a fine performance from pitcher Yoshinori Matsushita into a win. Instead, the Chicago Beefs prevailed, 9-7. Matsushita threw 7.0 innings of 6-hit ball. Picking up the save was Abdul-Aliyy bin Muti, his 1st. Chicago is in first place in the Americas Baseball League North American Division with a record of 30-21.

Chicago used the clutch hitting of Abbas Karani to capture the win. The second baseman drilled a run-scoring double in the top of the tenth inning to give the Beefs the lead, 8-7. For the game, Karani had 1 single and 1 double in 6 at-bats.

"Always feels extra good winning this kind of game," said Karani.
