A 3-RBI performance from shortstop Hudhayfah bin Salah al Din, who is tied for 8th in the IBL in stolen bases with 12, led the Melbourne Meteors to a win over the Nairobi Black Rhinos, 5-4. Mahmood Hashemi, who finished 4th in the ABL in saves with 33 in 2145, was the winner in relief. His record is now 2-2. The losing pitcher was Lou Berg. Matt Gentry closed out the game, earning his 9th save.
bin Salah al Din had a timely hit for Melbourne in the bottom of the sixth. With Melbourne trailing 4-3, he turned a 3-1 changeup into a 2-run double. It was his 13th double of the season, making it 5-4, Melbourne.
"We did enough to win," said bin Salah al Din.
Melbourne is now 26-27.
