The El Paso Thunderbirds managed to get by the Los Angeles Stars, 7-6, at Field of the Stars. El Paso right fielder Cheng-ho Tieh set himself apart with his performance. Gregor Finlater nailed down his 17th save. The triumph puts El Paso at 31-23 for the season.

Tsing Liao came through with a big-time hit for El Paso. The first baseman smacked a solo home run in the top of the ninth inning to give his team the lead, 7-6. It was his only hit, but it was clutch.

"We'll relax tonight and get back after it tomorrow," Liao said after the game.
