Nairobi got a big-time effort from pitcher Branko Kuchek, but it wasn't enough to keep the Tokyo Fitzies from winning the game, 5-4. Kuchek threw 8.0 innings of 4-hit ball for the losing team. The win gives the Fitzies a record of 19-40.

The decisive blow was delivered by Munsif Abdul-Muta'al in the bottom of the ninth when he hit a 3-run home run off 25-year old right-handed pitcher Gerardo Mendoza to win the game for Tokyo. The home crowd went nuts.

"The crowd was raucous," said Abdul-Muta'al.
