Unmesh Lifts Generals to 9-1 Triumph
|
The Rome Generals outclassed the Tokyo Fitzies, 9-1, at Gitche Gumee Stadium. Badal Unmesh, who finished 5th in the IBL in slugging percentage with .562 in 2144, was a major contributor for Rome. Unmesh went 2 for 2 with a home run and a walk, while adding 4 RBI and scoring once. Octávio Díaz, the winning pitcher, is now 7-4. He went 6 innings, allowing 1 run on 5 hits, while fanning 5 and walking 1. The Generals now own a record of 36-24.
Early in the game, second baseman Jean-Michel Martinez had a run-scoring triple for Rome. It was his 5th triple of the season and put the Generals on top, 1-0.
Said losing manager Meeks 17: "We need to play with more of an edge."
