Monks Stumble, Lose to Emperors
Beijing pitcher Jaime Torres did his part in helping his team beat the Daegu Monks, 8-3. The right-hander kept opposing batters from doing too much damage. Torres, who led the ABL in wins with 16 in 2146, went the distance for Beijing. He gave up 3 runs on 10 hits. The defeat makes Daegu 2-4.

The Monks had been locked in a 1-1 tie with the Emperors going into the bottom of the fourth inning. That changed quickly when the 25-year old shortstop Danh Sa came to the plate. Sa hit a 2-run double on a 0-1 fastball from Daegu hurler Matt Gentry. It was Sa's 2nd double of the year.

Torres called the win the result of "everyone being in sync."
