Sabeeh Jibril led Puerto Rico to a win over Detroit. The final score was 8-7. Jibril collected 3 RBI, while going 4 for 5 at the plate. The catcher also scored 2 times. Puerto Rico used the timely hitting of José Tavárez to seize the win. The pinch hitter stroked a 2-run single in the top of the ninth inning to put the Coqui on top, 8-7. It was his only hit in 1 at-bat, but it was a game-changer.

"We got the victory," said Tavárez. "That's all that matters at the end of the day."

The last-place Coqui now have a win-loss record of 26-36.
