The Tokyo Fitzies beat the Black Forest Foxes, 6-2, at The Den. Tokyo left fielder Carlos Díaz led the way. He went 4 for 5 with 2 home runs and 2 singles. He drove in 5 runs and scored twice. Jamal Kirinyaga, who went 7 innings, was the winning pitcher. He was charged with 1 run on 8 hits, while walking 1 and striking out 6. His record now stands at 5-7. The Foxes, now 20-43, have lost 4 straight.
Díaz had a game-changing home run in the top of the sixth. On a 2-0 splitter from Mariano Ochoa, he banged a 2-run home run to left, giving the Fitzies a 2-0 lead. It was the 6th home run of the year for Díaz.
Said losing manager DP Woodford: "The at-bats, obviously, needed to be better."
